Covers that are (in your opinion) better than the origionals

RE: Covers that are (in your opinion) better than the origionals
Bowie’s version of “See Emily Play” better than the original? Blasphemer!

In the interests of keeping the thread on track, here’s a cover that really does improve on the original:

What sort of end Jim Morrison was singing about in the original version is unclear, but when Nico takes it on, it sounds like nothing short of the end of days. And following it up with a solo harmonium version of "Das Lied der Deutschen" (all three verses, at that) just throws it into sharp relief.

So, I've decided to check my archives for some more examples:

This might be because I listened to this version before any others, but, frankly, I think this is the best version of this song.

Recently, I finally discovered Vanilla Fudge, a band whose style involved longer, slower, louder (they were some of the earliest adopters of Marshall stacks and were one of the missing links between psychedelia and metal) covers of pop songs, and managed to make some great songs even greater. And what can they do with a shitty song?

Fun fact, the son of temporary lead singer Bill Pascali commented on this upload, saying
Quote:My dad (Bill Pascali) did the lead vocals for this song. I remember when he first told me the band was doing a cover from the Backstreet Boys. I was so happy because I was very young and I loved them (Idk what was wrong with me). Anyway many years later, I realize this version kicks the originals ass.

And now for a rare Beatles cover that improves on the original:

Comparing the Universal Oneness of All Life to Yo Mama since 2010.
