What and whose purpose?

Is your position that the opposite side (in this case left/dems) never does "evil" in the minds of others? Eye of the beholder.

Everything is in the eyes of the beholder.   You better not behold what they do less critically than Would be appropriate given the predictable consequences of what they do.   Otherwise it would also be predictable that they will make how you behold the world increasingly, perhaps irreversibly, irrelevant.

You get to decide the level of appropriateness?

I'll determine what I view critically, estimate the consequences and take a position. With apparently less drama queen extremes.
