UK Supreme Court: Suspending Parliament was unlawful

UK Supreme Court: Suspending Parliament was unlawful
Supreme Court: Suspending Parliament was unlawful, judges rule

Boris Johnson's decision to suspend Parliament was unlawful, the Supreme Court has ruled.
Mr Johnson suspended - or prorogued - Parliament for five weeks earlier this month, but the court said it was wrong to stop MPs carrying out duties in the run-up to Brexit on 31 October.

Supreme Court president Lady Hale said "the effect on the fundamentals of democracy was extreme".
Downing Street said it was "currently processing the verdict".

"The decision to advise Her Majesty to prorogue Parliament was unlawful because it had the effect of frustrating or preventing the ability of Parliament to carry out its constitutional functions without reasonable justification."
Lady Hale said the unanimous decision of the 11 justices was that Parliament had not been prorogued - the decision was null and of no effect - and it was for the Speakers of the Commons and Lords to decide what to do next.
Commons Speaker John Bercow welcomed the ruling and said Parliament "must convene without delay", adding that he would now consult party leaders "as a matter of urgency".

Good on Boris, though.  He's accomplished something no one imagined was possible:  He turned out to be a worse PM than May.

And he's on his way to setting a record for being the shortest-serving PM in history (bar a few caretaker governments that don't really count).

He got the Queen to do something illegal, maybe he will end up chained to the wall of the Tower of London, nibbled to death by corgies!
(I would buy a ticket to see that!)

Misleading HRM tends to lead to resignation.  I doubt very much that she would feed him to the corgies - she quite likes her dogs.

It seems Boris doesn't resign as it should be proper. What an absolute rotter! He wants early elections and the opposition only accepts that if a no deal brexit gets averted.

ETA: what a clusterfuck this thing is.

On the build up to the referendum we were told there would be £300 million per week for the NHS, now they are stockpilling medicines in case of shortages following brexit. Lying, self serving scumbags!

You know the best bit, he managed to get a unanimous verdict against him, despite at least five of the judges being sympathetic to the government position. Any defence other than "I'm Boris, I can do what I want" would likely have won him the case.

'Twas easy to figure out that BoJo the Clown would be worse than the Maybot, while she was useless, at least she was a worker. BoJo is both useless and workshy.
