So, imagine this: a thousand kids go to a magic show, and in addition to entertainment, they promise goodies for everyone at the door. Then, at the end, they decide to throw prizes to the audience. More specifically, the ground section of the theater. The kids in the balcony, of course, are pissed off that the groundlings get extra shit when they don’t, for some arbitrary reason, so many of them try to go down to the ground and get some. Unfortunately, because of poor visibility, and some unfortunately placed doors, instead, some of these balcony kids trip and fall, and, specifically, trip and fall on each other, to the extent that, at the foot of the stairs, there’s a pile of kids 20 deep (and to make matters worse, many of the kids in the pile are warned about how dire the situation is and do not care), and it reaches a point where 183 of them died as a result. Is is just me or does this sound like an alarmingly apt metaphor for capitalism and its effect on the lower classes?
