Trump threaten to flee the country

Trump likely holds many secrets which would cause grave harm if released to an adversary like Russia. Obviously he won't have access to anything once he's out of office but just revealing policies and procedures related to nukes would be highly dangerous. It's total naivete to think his defection to Russia would be anything but a disaster.

I personally hope there is a black-ops wing of the CIA which would take him down rather than allow that. We're probably in uncharted territory here. There have been some really bad past presidents but I don't think treason was a realistic concern with any of them. It could happen with Trump.

His defection would no doubt do enormous harm.    But it is not on par with the harm he has already done by discrediting the US as an reliable alliance partner, an reliable treaty partner, and upholder of equitable international institution fundamental to a world that is not a free for all.    Under Trump collapse of the US as a world leader is nearly as quick and complete as that of the USSR in 1989.   So I don’t think the harm of his defection would compared to the harm that can come from the contimued survival of trumpism as a major political force in the US.  But Trump defecting to the Russians will end trumpism and their more conspicuously enablers decisively as political forceS in the US.

I personally hope the CIA will ensure his defection is not thwarted, so it will end trumpism here.   If his treason is thwarted, his minion will call the attempt “fake news” conceited by the “deep state”.   So his treason must succeed.  If he reviews at Putin’s side russian tanks parading in the red square next May 1st, it would be but a superficial humiliation for the US that would disguise a profound national catharsis.
