Nah, it would seem that it's mostly confusing for people, who haven't heard of Finland-Swedes (even people here in Finland, imagine that!). We are Finnish, but we talk Swedish as our mother tongue. And it is a different Swedish from the one they talk in Sweden. We understand each other just fine, but the accent and vocabulary is different, just like your English varies depending on where you live.
Try wrapping your tongue and head around Italian... dialects...all Italian but form different invasions...
I guess I'm accustomed to it?? Your situation made a whole lot of sense to me when I first read it.
