It's not the same. Spay and neuter can greatly reduce cancer risks in cats and dogs.
Declawing has no benefit.
Lets get real here. If you eat any sort of animal meat, be it cow, pig or chicken egg, and you object to cats or dogs having any sort of surgery, you lost me.
It is absolutely true, if a cat owner allows the cat outside, it is far better they don't declaw them. But, the problem with outdoor cats is that they face other animals, like possums, and squirrels, and other feral dogs or cats. In that case, the cat needs their claws to fight back, and or escape up a tree.
But, as a cat owner, why would one let them outside the house? Steve Irwin had an entire zoo of cobras, crocs, tigers, kangaroos, ect ect. And that zoo constantly put animals under drugs and surgery to save their lives.
If one is willing to put an animal under for other surgery, outside declawing, or spay or neutering, say if they have cancer, then how do you think the pet will know?
Spaying and neutering and declawing are not cruel.
