Acquitted. Not much of a surprise, but it’s encouraging that seven senators voted to convict. That’s seven more than I expected, as well as seven more than have EVER voted to convict a president of their own party.

I think a good weapon to use against militias would be for the media to stop referring to them as ‘militias’ and start calling them what they are - domestic terrorists.

First understand - the.media inflates the numbers. I have seen this first hand. When the media was reporting the Michigan Militia had over a million members - (1990's) I was there - and know for a fact there was not even 10,000 members. My best guess? Between 4 and 5 thousand. That is a conservative estimate. It was likely lower.

But - the.media loved them - because they "sold newspapers". 

The militia was a handy boogeyman. Outta control whackos with guns AND THERE'S MILLIONS OF THEM!!!.

The numbers are not the point. The domestic terrorists absolutely delight in the term ‘militia’ - it feeds into their fantasy that they’re some sort of patriotic freedom fighters, when they’re simply a bunch disgruntled lost boys playing at being soldiers. ‘Militia’ is a soft euphemism that adds to their mystique and helps them recruit. The media would would get an even bigger bang by calling the domestic terrorists.
