I wouldn't say that it shows a catholic anything that they didn't already know, honestly.
They see the spells and rituals as an essential service, and if we want to understand why a mass of generally decent people can seem to punt on this (as opposed to institutions, fundamentally self preserving) then the explanation is going to lie somewhere other than a cynical ploy to defraud them. If we found out that there was a large number of sex offenders working in civil infrastructure - we'd be unlikely to perceive that failure as the failure of sewers. We would still want sewers. We recently found out that entertainment was full of offenders. We memory holed the offenders but we didn't slow down on the hypersexualization and ephebophilia that may have drawn so many in and may have contributed the precarious environment.
They're already sold on the product...and they likely already have their own personal complaints with the company. They can also see that the spell and ritual providers are involved in other aims and causes which might be essential services to an even broader community than just the people who think that shaking a rattle at ghosts will cure their soul sickness.
