Colorado, TX doesn't exist. Colorado City, TX does.
We don't say Moines or Francisco. There isn't a far NE state named Hampshire and the North and South is sort of important in designating which Carolina or Dakota you are talking about.
I understand that you play fast and loose with the language - in fact, I usually except that about you.

3.If I said, Francisco California no one would doubt what city I'm referring to. If I said Moines Iowa no one would doubt what city I'm referring to. You could cut the New in New Hampshire as long as you mention it's a state. You can skip North and South by simply referring to them as Dakota's or Carolina's

If you were to write a letter to someone in Fargo, would you address it ‘Fargo, Dakota’?
