We agree that there's a chance that we are living in a sim. (Impossible to argue against actually since we are inside the sandbox).

Is it possible therefore that the laws of physics were programmed differently in a previous earlier sim and as a result of a memory leak, some of the subroutines were carried over into our now Earth 2.0 version of the same upgraded sim? This can explain all the supernatural events which have occurred so frequently in stories of the past.

No god needed.
Technology wins again!

Hilary Putnam wrote an article arguing that we could tell if we were brains in vats. I didn't find it persuasive, but if true, living in a sim wouldn't be indetectable.
