Well without getting into the problems with the justice system... 
It is kind of interesting that up until recently a religion based on a book has held so much sway over mankind. Don't get me wrong it still holds a lot of people but I think more and more people are moving away from it. If they aren't moving away completely the ideas are being changed/whittled away so eventually it will probably be a husk of what it used to be anyway.
Still... took what? over 1900 years for to really start taking a beating?
