The public protests are there to raise awareness for the public and gain public support. And before you scoff at that, bear in mind that the majority of the protests, both then and now, are actually peaceful. And even when they were violent, the violence tends to be contained to small areas. Those optics aren’t ideal, but it’s hardly “acting like fucking chimps.” And certainly not enough to dismiss the entire movement.
