I should have been clearer. Legally, his adult kids are entitled to protection, but it should have stopped when he lost the election. The Service - for reasons they haven't made public - extended that for 6 months. That extension is what I was referring to.
And I'm not sure that would work on Trump. He doesn't seem to like his kids all that much.

Ok.... I think that it should have ended as soon as President Biden was sworn in.
Trump might not like his kids ( it' s probably mutual) but he is big on not offending the electorate... Gotta look like the concerned daddy....
But while he was in office - yes - a Secret Service detail assigned to his family makes good sense from a national security standpoint.
Disliking the buffoon isn' t a good justification for leaving our collective dick laying out for somebody to step on ....
