Where did you hear that?
Here's a very science-y article explaining why its logical for Superman's skin to be dark, based on how his powers work.
That's true about the Hulk's different colors, but because they were all non-human colors like gray, green, red...it didn't come across as being related to "race" so there was no objection. My personal favorite was gray, which was the original color.
Superman was essentially a rip-off of Doc Savage, ‘The Man of Bronze’ , so-called because of his skin colour (you can say ‘inspired by’ instead of ‘rip-off’ if you like, I shan’t quibble).
-Man of Bronze/Man of Steel.
-Both had famous, powerful fathers.
-Both operated out of New York City (Metroplis IS New York).
-Both were medical and scientific geniuses.
-Both had a Fortress of Solitude, located in the Arctic.
-Both fought crime.
-Savage was frequently referred to as ‘a Superman’ in newspapers.
Lots of other similarities. Siegel and Shuster simply filed off the serial numbers, changed the body lines just enough to keep it out of court, and viola! Superman.
