Yeah, most of that didn't make any sense. I'm not really concerned with the terms so much as the cultural responses to bad behavior by seemingly untouchable people. Cosby appears to have been "cancelled". As far as I'm concerned, that's a good thing. I don't really care if his old shows are still available because those shows don't represent Cosby as a person, but I certainly wouldn't support any of his future work and don't consider him to be a valuable member of society. The same can certainly be said of Harvey Weinstein.
But there are many who criticize this aspect of society in rather odd ways. They sometime claim that only one element of a person's character is being criticized while that person is had great character traits in other aspects. Well, perhaps, but I suppose there's a calculus to determine how much money one has to donate to the starving children in Africa to overcome drugging and raping multiple women.
Republicans almost unanimously rile against CC and Woke and our dirty little worm Airhead will likely be doing so shortly on this thread. But wait! Their patron saint and god almighty, Trump himself, is profoundly guilty of doing the same thing to multiple people. Let's review a list, shall we? Here are people Trump has called for cancellation:
Hillary Clinton, of course
Black journalist Touré
Chris Matthews
Glenfiddich whiskey
Bill Maher
HBO because of Bill Maher
Univision
Fox News journalist Rich Lowry
The list is extremely long. This is just a sampling. My point here is that even many of those who criticize cancel culture, believe in cancel culture themselves. In Trump's case he just wants anyone who crosses him to be cancelled. Trump doesn't give a whit about bad people who do bad things to innocent people because he is one of bad guys. I'm curious what other republicans are hypocrites about this.

Why is it so?
