compared to china, russia is not really a super power. China’s GDP is 10 times larger. although russia still holds the edge in a few field of military technology, chinese military industrial complex holds vastly greater in many more fields, especially after may of the former soviet military industrial complexes ended up in independent republics and then were allowed to decay.
there is no doubt russia would be a junior partner to china, the real superpower, but russia would be an exceptionally valuable partner without which china probably can’t ever compete directly with the US due to china’s geographic disadvantage.
