One thing I've been meaning to say for a while now is that if Putain really was worried about a NATO encirclement all he needed to do was get on the blower with President Zelenskyy and offer him some guarantees and a withdrawal of support for the "breakaway republics" in the Donbas, because President Zelenskyy's major election platform, and the majority of his early effort, was to find a way for a rapprochement with Russia. President Zelenskyy by temprament was fairly happy with a Ukraine that worked closely with Russia, a free, fair and democratic Ukraine but also one that was on good terms with its bigger neighbour.

But then again Putain only wants power and glory for himself, and he doesn't care how much he ruins to get it.
