I used to know a fellow woodworker who didn’t believe in digging out splinters. He would let them get infected, the squeeze the splinter out along with the pus.
Haven’t heard from him in years. I suspect he died of gangrene.

It was at an odd angle for me to get ahold of so a girl who worked in the injection molding side of the shop offered to pull it out with the tweezers.
She almost gagged - it was a bit over 3 cm long....
Bled a fair bit too.....
The guys in the shop were making - "It was so big she gagged" jokes all afternoon....
