Yeah, that was me. I was speaking directly to OLBs fetish. The child support system we have doesn't work for the rich and famous either. I could've reduced my commitment to something like $100 a month 20 years ago. I left it where it was, and I'm as far in the hole on it as I was the very first day there was an order issued and an account to pay to. I'll likely always be exactly as behind as I've ever been (not that all of that money goes to my ex...it sure as shit doesn't, and wouldn't be enough to raise our kid anyway). Hell on my credit score though, regardless of payment status. That's hurt my ability to have a family with someone who actually wants to have a family with me - while not actually helping someone who doesn't...without, as I mentioned, actually covering the cost in the first place.
My ex isn't poor. It's not working for either of us - either. She could afford to hire an endless procession of lawyers, but it wouldn't change a thing for her anymore than a poor ex could expect as much.
