This is going to be an unpopular comment, but there is nothing that says the police have to charge into a hail of bullets, any more than firefighters have to approach a burning tanker to pull the driver out. In fact, quite the reverse. Blame the lunatic, not law enforcement. Now, there appears to have been a lot of fucking up by law enforcement that needs to be addressed.

I should move this conversation to another thread but, if what I read is correct, and I haven't read verification yet, an unarmed woman went into the school during the shooting, defying the cops, and got her kids out.

Yes, there's a lot to be addressed, but it is nice to think that those who have just been provided with millions of dollars of tactical gear, and did an active shooter drill only several months before, would take responsibility and NOT stand around while kids are murdered.
