I had a great day with family, although my daughter was out of town and we celebrated a few days earlier.
On a Sunday full of fatherly metaphors, I had to consider this a bit. I love my daughter more than anything. If I were a monster, which I'm not, I could follow the "father's" example. I would just need to show that love by communicating it to her solely in a poorly translated, inconsistent, inaccurate collection of documents. Then, loving her so much, I could threaten (via interpreters speaking for me, not necessarily via the documents) to torture her for all eternity if she failed to live up to the vague expectations in that set of documents. That seems to pretty much sum it up.
