I don't think what he actually said was different enough to even warrant a correction, but I can quote a different line verbatim instead: "Poor kids are just as bright and just as talented as white kids."
Joe Biden undoubtedly holds racist beliefs... sure, maybe his opinions on race have changed as he's aged (he certainly needs to change them for public perception purposes) but he is responsible for some of the most egregiously racist legislation in the US since the end of Jim Crow (the mandatory minimum drug law that made more severe penalties for drugs more widely used by the black population compared to drugs more widely used by the white population).
Democrats across the board also don't really seem to care. They have not demonstrated any commitment to actually addressing contemporary civil rights issues. They talk about it and they certainly fuel the left-leaning side of the culture war, but have yet to commit to any solutions to the problems that have been in the public sphere since Trayvon Martin got shot a decade ago.
