There's a funny story about cultural exchange back when Glasnost was a thing. 

The Soviet Union and America sent two of their most prominent violinists to a conference to discuss greater interaction of classical musicians between the two countries. It turned out that both of the violinists had gone to the same kindergarten in Odessa. 

(Not sure if that's true or not.)
