Yup, it sounds ridiculous until you realize that they're not -just- looting. They need those chips for their war effort. Shit, they've been stealing traffic cams in border countries, too, for the same reason. Why do they get into firefights with each other over washing machines? Meanwhile, russia has suffered massive casualties (and we can assume ukraine has, as well) in a failed general push along the bahkmut artillery lines. So much for those new recruits, ground into meat.
I’ve heard that some Russian soldier who are from region like Siberia are so poor that even things like an old wash machine or a used refrigerator is of value to them and that they will plunder these goods to send them to their families in those remote regions.
