Maybe you think a 16 year old can fully grasp the consequences of removing his genitals or of taking hormones to alter her natural bodily development, but I don't. I think it could it be devastating for life to leave a decision like that in their hands. Let them go into then world and experience it on their own before making a decision that they must deal with for life.
I actually learn a lot from my 17 year old granddaughter and her crew of friends. True they haven't lived as long as I have but they have good input on things today. At this point they are making life choices of all sorts. Their knowledge is of the world today about things that can make people uncomfortable aren't as hidden as they were when I was a senior in HS back in the 70s.
People who were LGBTQ+ were quite deeply alone in the closet back then. Today is better with much more acceptance, even here, deep in the heart of Texas.
A different perspective isn't necessarily an incorrect perspective. And, they are moving in the world they live in. Not the one I lived in at their age.
You are quite dismissive of teens. Have you met one lately?
