Though not my favorite genre, I am good with Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, and the other storytellers.
I wouldn't go out onto my front yard to listen to Taylor Swift if she were putting on a show out there.

Though like awty mentioned, Johnny Cash, and some others I can handle, like Tennessee Ernie Ford or Marty Robbins. Don't get me started on that yodeling shit, though. That shit drove my dad (and me) nuts. He was a fan of the 3 Bs and all things classical. One of my sons thought that I might like some "modern country". NOPE.
Right. I grew up listening to country music thanks to my dad, some great, some crappy. Loves me some Willie and Waylon, and detest some even from that era too. But this modern country stuff isn't country at all. I could go into the musicality of it, or the gear, or the influences outside of country ... but in my own opinion it's rock retuned for country-minded ears.
I don't listen to Trailer Hitch or stuff like that at all. But I'm picky.
