I think we may be entering delicate areas here but Eugeny Pirozhin just admitted interfering with US elections in 2016:
“(Reuters) - Yevgeny Prigozhin, the head of Russia's Wagner mercenary group, said on Tuesday that he founded and financed and the Internet Research Agency, a company Washington says is a "troll farm" which meddled in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.”

In Pre-WWII standards, this is a declaration of war. This is a case of another country being involved in another countries election systems. There has been a similar issue with the Greek politician Eva Kali accepting money from the Qatari’s to vote in their interest. There has also been the scandal in which the French President Nicholas Sarkozy has accepted money from the Libyan leader Khadafi again, to act in his interest. But at least the Qataris and the Libyans denied doing anything like that. Right now the head of Wagner is clearly admitting to have been involved in US elections.
My point of view: There has to be some sort of action on these event. The EU for instance has taken several measures so that Qatar Gate doesn’t repeat itself in the future. If the US doesn’t act on this there will be similar events (with the Chinese, with Saudi Arabia etc. etc.) at every election campaign. I even think it’s already time to put some restriction on social media as a whole.
