Yeah, i wondered as well why Mujahideen existed in the first place. Then i found out CCCP invaded Afghanistan.
I was SHOCKED!!!!
What i have NOT found out yet is: How the US was responsible for CCCPs invasion in the first place. Probably a plot to strenghten pruducers of the Stinger missiles.
Bel is partly right on this. It was the US supplied weapons that were used against coalition forces in the 2000’s. Afghanistan is the ugliest face of competing regional powers and Imperialism. But it was the Russians who first became involved in Afghanistan thinking of it as a Tibet-like trophy to their ever-growing empire. And that was a turning point. If only they had just left that country alone. Another opportunity was missed when the Nationalist leader Ahmad Shah Massoud was assassinated in 2001 3-4 days before 9-11.
The opportunity today is the son of Shah Massoub who is still resisting in the mountains. But that’s the ugliness of international politics. Russia wants that, Iran supports that, Saudi Arabia sends it’s support to that, China believe in that solution, Pakistan sees no solution (so they end up being bombed by the Taliban themselves). So International politics is a real mess sometimes. Bel is totally right on that and I agree with him.
But still: there has to be a balance. There has to be limits. The Ukrainian people have made their choice. So have the People of Taiwan. So for now, we have to respect that.
But Iraq and/or Afghanistan? – I simply don’t know. I don’t even have any real solution for the Kurds as a whole right here right now. I just don’t.
