Dad made arrangements for me to ride to school with a classmate who lived up the hill from us. We despised one another with a fury. Every damn morning he would pull up out front and I got in the back seat and somehow his 8-track was always playing Takin' Care of Business.
I liked Lynyrd Skynyrd when they were first getting big but then they were so overplayed that I just can't take them at all any more.
Modern country is a no-go for me. I can listen to Johnny Cash, and Willie Nelson, and the other outlaw country story tellers but not anything along the lines of 'Our cocker spaniel's always having puppies, how can anybody be so lucky?' KMN
Yeah, between bro-country and the Taylor Swift clones, mainstream country is awful. I do like much of what I've heard from Kacey Musgraves ... but what country I do hear is college radio. It avoids the shit that passes for country nowadays.
