Rightly or wrongly I can "defend" moral realism in a few short sentences...but it's a herculean task to "defend" the idea of the totally obvious™ lord of all creation? IDK, I feel like that ought to be a big flashing warning signal in any conflict between the two. What can they really be saying, aside from "yeah, i get that it really looks like the other thing - but for arcane reasons I can't easily or competently articulate..it isn't".
It's a covert admission of personal incredulity.
