Given that it just took a single fringe Republican moving to vacate for McCarthy for him to lose his position, I don't think that's possible anymore.
It's important to remember that McCarthy, in his manic quest to be Speaker, shot himself in the foot on that one. It's a House procedural rule, it can be changed.
