tl;dr: Eastern MA and the major cities are blue. Rest of state tends red.
Massachusetts demography: The major cities - Boston, Worcester, Springfield, Cambridge, Somerville, Fall River, Holyoke, Lowell, Lawrence... are all dark blue. The suburbs around them are purple in the eastern part of the state and red west of the Route 95 belt. West of Worcester the population density thins out massively (> 65% of the 7 million MA residents live from Worcester east). The red swath is broken up by Springfield and the college enclaves of Amherst and North Hampton before solid red takes hold in the Connecticut river valley. Extreme western MA in the Berkshires tends to be Vermont-style liberal.
Many of the mill towns in western MA, e.g. Ware (the town that can never be found) resemble rural Appalachia - rusty downtowns with box stores and little other industry, lots of "FJB" stickers on pickup trucks.
Class is more indicative of politics than ethnicity. A majority of white collar folks are liberal to moderate. Majority of working class are MAGA to moderate. Eastern MA's population dominates election cycles. The Boston TV stations don't cover news west of Worcester. That's the "springfield/albany" market.
I don’t remember Massachusetts being so colourful.
