Le Dîner de Cons (1998), The Dinner Game - a smart guy is trapped in his high-class apartment with an idiot who is ruining his life. As I watched it I realized that it could not be (successfully) remade in the US (as these movies frequently do) because there are no more actors who are short, fat, and bald. The previous generation had a few, like Danny DeVito, Wallace Shawn, Dennis Franz, and Jason Alexander to name a few. And indeed, the movie was remade in the US with Will Ferrell as the idiot, but I don't have to watch even a minute of it to know it's a failure because it needs to be played by a short, fat, and bald actor which there are none anymore.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"
