If the recipient thought that, and told me, I'd apologise.

The banter is far worse at the gay bar and amongst my queer friends, so I'd be surprised if anyone found it disrespectful.

But if someone is offended or thinks someone has been uncivil towards them, then the polite response is an apology, which I'm more than prepared to give.
