I woke up this morning realizing this recent gout flare-up was likely caused by the only change in my diet. I started chewing gum again recently.

But again, an online source states that damage or trauma to the foot can cause a flare-up, and I had recently hurt my foot on an extended swivel chair leg when trying to sit down.
