Even if you kept them in a chicken coop you'd still be out the plywood and wire. I guess you could leave them staked in the yard but then you have to think about all the labor to clean them when their services are required and how much excess mortality you'd have to deal with in the colder months. I think it's instructive that guys who had harems had people to do all this for them - it was..essentially.... a livestock operation. Fun fact, peacocks were really cost efficient guard dogs for harems. Somebody figured that out - bet it wasn't the guy who owned the harem...bet that guy didn't like peacocks, either.
Harems are, imo, one of those things that only sounds good -as- a fantasy, the reality being more irksome even if it were desirable. Like, if you ask me why on site or why more money I start to think you have something more like prostitution or a string of unrelated one night stands in mind. Those don't appeal to me either. Never have. I guess I'm just a family man down to my core, you know? No family, no relationship.
