That land mass is big enough that Putin's people, whomever they are, are expected to eke out a living after a nuclear war. Low population density and a large land mass might lead in that direction. The same can't be said for the US, Canada, or western Europe.

   There is a 1983 movie called “The Day After” whose director is Nicholas Meyer. No one really survives a nuclear war. Half of us will be dead within hours (even minutes). The other half within a few weeks or within a few months or so. And that includes Putin and his entourage.


You can think of it this way: Would Donald Trump do this if he could?
