conservapedia Wrote:The inspiration for Orwell's growth into conservatism remains unexplored.
Perhaps because he never grew into conservatism, and therefore no exploration into that notion was warranted?
LOL.."Do as I say, not as I do" shall be the sum of authoritarian thought.

They should all read Homage to Catalonia and they too might learn something, but then again, conservatives generally dont like to part with cash.
I have read bits and peices of it. In fact, before you even made the suggestion I went to Amazon and downloaded the kindel version of that book to my "PADD" (Im a big Star Trek fan, and I call my Kindel a "Padd"). I am very cautious not to call Orwell an Anarchist. He went to catalonia and remarked of how peaceful the area was even though surrounded by war from Franco/Mussolini/Hitler Fascists. He also was very happy to see the working man in control of the country, so much so that he put his pen down from his writings and fought alongside the Lib Left forces very nearly losing his life in helping the struggle. Once he felt he spent what he felt was enough time fighting (the sydicalist army was completely voluntary, yet it took the combined forces of the Catholic church, Hitler, Mussolini, AND Franco to take them down AND most capitalist states embargoed them on account of their anti-authoritarian/pro-anarchy/pro-worker views) He penned the book of which you mentioned and which I am looking forward to reading with great enthusiasm.
..but...like I said. I am very cautious in claiming anyone an Anarchist...yet, Orwell fought for the Anarchist forces. He did admit that he didnt agree with everything the Revolution brought about, but he said something to the tune of "something about the place made me put down the pen and pick up the gun. Revolutions was in the streets. People did not say "beunos Dias", but "Salud"". I love Orwell's writings, and for Conservapedians to say that Orwell, who fought for the ultra left wing anti-authoritarian cause, is a "conservative leader" shows that they dont know DONKEY DICK about Orwell..perhaps one of the greatest political opinionists of the 20th century...or about basic political definitions or ideology.
If Orwell were alive today the conservapedians would be comparing him to Hitler and Stalin and Satan..fucking fickle ignorant bastards.

YIKES!!!!1!!1ELEVENTYONE!!! A mistake like that is unforgivable. I apologize to all on the board...LOL...oops...but you pretty much know me by now and know it was a mistake. Still, I deserve to be placed in the pillary for such an affront of comparing apples to rotten shit.

It's part of our nature to label and stereotype etc...The duality of labels in my mind (absurdist philosophy)..we need them yet they create many problems from generalizations and willingly lumping individuals into a blanket statement...alas, we are all humans in an inhuman cosmos.
