Woman - Life - Freedom Movement in Iran 2.0
#41
RE: Woman - Life - Freedom Movement in Iran 2.0
U.N. investigation has established that the 22 years old Mahsa Amini’s death was due to “physical violence in the custody of state authorities” that was itself unlawful (because her hair was still covered enough in the way it is stated in Iranian law).

The U.N.’s “crime against humanity” allegation is based on “widespread and systematic attack against women and girls, and other persons expressing support for human rights," and on the fact that "Some of these serious violations of human rights thus rose to the level of crimes against humanity."

Here is the Article 7 of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (The current Legal / Political definition of a Crime Against Humanity):

Quote:‘crime against humanity’ means any of the following acts when committed as part of a widespread or systematic attack directed against any civilian population, with knowledge of the attack:

  1. Murder;

  2. Extermination;

  3. Enslavement;

  4. Deportation or forcible transfer of population;

  5. Imprisonment or other severe deprivation of physical liberty in violation of fundamental rules of international law;

  6. Torture;

  7. Rape, sexual slavery, enforced prostitution, forced pregnancy, enforced sterilization, or any other form of sexual violence of comparable gravity;

  8. Persecution against any identifiable group or collectivity on political, racial, national, ethnic, cultural, religious, gender as defined in paragraph 3, or other grounds that are universally recognized as impermissible under international law, in connection with any act referred to in this paragraph or any crime within the jurisdiction of the Court;

  9. Enforced disappearance of persons;

  10. The crime of apartheid;

  11. Other inhumane acts of a similar character intentionally causing great suffering, or serious injury to body or to mental or physical health.

a) Check
b) Not sure but the 15 year old Armita Gerewand who collapsed in the metro in October 2023 was of Kurdish origin. The “Islamist” regime is not a great fan of its Kurdish and/or Arab minorities. In fact it is a very racist regime as well.
c) Not really: but they are forcing people to wash dead bodies as a form of punishment
d) Not that I know of
e) Check
f) double check
g) They are practicing gender apartheid + there are many cases of rape and sexual violence especially against Kurdish minorities.
h) The Suni Baluchistan region is the poorest region of Iran in which the Suni Minority is being repressed for their identity. + Iranian Kurds are also living in a constant state of martial law and are also being strongly repressed by the IRI Regime.
i) CHeck
j) Check (they are practicing gender apartheid)
k) Check. One example: The human right activist Narges Mohammadi (Who has received a Nobel prize in 2023 for her struggle for human rights)) "suffers from severe health issues, including serious heart and lung conditions, placing her health at great risk + is being denied medical access because she is not wearing the mandatory hijab,"

Still: I like the old definition of “Crime Against Humanity”. To me these are violations of human rights pure and simple.
