I'm hoping that God doing this shit will ultimately be for the benefit of the deluded person, like being denied redemption would be better for them somehow. Otherwise God is a complete douchebag.

Being denied redemption is exactly the same as damnation. Put another way, God deludes people for the express purpose of sending them to Hell.

So…yeah. Douchebaggery writ large.
