In their minds, children don't need to know anything about deviations to the norm. In their minds everyone is either male (and is thus attracted to females), or is a female (attracted to males). God made humans like this and only like this.
Deviations are diseased people that need to be cured.
In the meantime, it's fine to teach kids to worship god and don't say its name in vain and stuff. It's even desirable to teach them that. This way the kids will grow to accept god as real and will perpetuate the belief... That's not indoctrination, it's education.
