That depends. Are you fighting Russians in Ukraine and trying to avoid facial-recognition? Are you robbing a bank electronically? Maybe you're viewing porn? Or are you marching in order to support planned pogroms or authoritarianism supported by direct violence?
I think the intent of these guys makes their urge to privacy a little obvious. KKK hid their faces too. Who wants to out themself as a racist? There's also a little intimidation factor involved, and this sort of thing makes any threat faceless.
Protect your identity as much as you want, until you plot to hurt or kill others. And when you're shouting crap like what they did, I think we're clear that they're not afraid of identity thieves. It's a false equivalence here.
