It’s not an easy task to understand how political islamists or proponents of scholastic ways of thinking of other religious groups are thinking.
I just read that the IRI is giving 400 long range missiles to Russia to support their war of aggression there:

This is a type of action you would expect from a more secular actor, like North-Korea for instance. Yet if that state is a state that is “religious” in its very nature. Than how does a religious state send weapons to a state that is carrying out a war of expansion and is very likely to it on ordinary civilians whose only crime is to try to live like any other person in the rest of the world?
You know, when Machiavelli published “The Prince” in 1550 no one really liked his book. It was the philosopher of enlightenment + the supporters of republican ideology that valued his work in the later decades and centuries.
That’s because those philosophers simply understood the weaknesses of human nature better than scholastic thinkers.
If you think that a state that is more “pious”, “religious”, “ethical” in its very foundation is going to do things better than a state that is based on more rational / secular structures, to me this means you need to study the basics of modern philosophy once again.
