LOL...WHAT?!?!?! There is nothing specially christian about good vs. evil...many religions have taken on this theme for their stories, such as the Viking religion, which was the religion used to write The hobbit about. Gandalf is an Icelandic king of the elves in the Eddas (the religious writting of the Vikings).

These people are so STUPID!!!!
JRR relied heavily on Viking mythology for his writtings. Most of the dwarf and elf names come directly from norse mythology. Vikings considered elves and dwarves to be spirits of the earth... kind of like angels in a sense.
