The beheading of the French History, geography and civil education teacher in October 2020 is a typical illustration of how far people are able to misunderstand any type of teaching that are provided to them.
In the article, you can see how all these terrorist event are pushing people (all around the world) to hold on more firmly to their republican / secular values and national identity and Self-love as human beings. In the meantime, “Islam” has become what the Roman Catholic Church was in the 10th century or so, calling people to do all sorts of irrational action in order to avoid the flames of hell and other stuff like that. 
I just read that Paty had even allowed the students who would feel offended by his display of Mohammad comics to temporarily leave the classroom if they wanted to. So I’m still thinking “What else could he possibly do?”
