Elder discovered Biggie and "Hypnotize" so I played the Herb Alpert tune, "Rise."
Now, I'm no big fan of ole Herb, in fact that's the only song I know. In contrast I know at least a dozen Biggie tunes. But for a 70's smarmy bar trumpet song it has a good groove. Which has been sampled.
A bit more of this and they won't play their tunes for me anymore. Winning.
I went through something similar when my son was in his teens. He decided he wanted a Bob Marley shirt and a Jimmy Hendrix shirt on a couple different shopping excursions. I made him listen to the artists on the way home.
If you are going to sport that person's image, you are at least going to know what they are known for. Damnit.
