'I form the light and create darkness: I make peace and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.'
According to the Old Testament, then, evil is a creation of God. Therefore, not 'allowing evil free reign to do whatever it desires' would be an attempt to pervert one of God's creations, a clear act of blasphemy.
It really doesn't seem as if you've read the Bible at all.

I wonder if this deity creates our perception of evil as well? It is after all a subjective idea, and relative, as are all moral claims. So when I see theists like @TheWhiteMarten espouse what I subjectively perceive as immoral hate speech and bigotry, it's his own deity creating my subjective perception of that as "evil" or "immoral", well who could have guessed that in a million years. I feel like a puppet being controlled, so much for free will...
