As a native Illinoisan, I can confirm that we’re doing what we can to be an oasis from Trumpist horseshit.
And trans rights are no exception.
Yeah, I know. I've seen the IL governor stand up to Trump multiple times. This is the one that got my attention and I thought it was funny.
Illinois also has other benefits for me. I was born in Joliet, so it's the state where my birth certificate is from. I have a lot of extended family in the area: aunts, uncles and so many cousins I can't keep track of them all. And my employer is based in Chicago so I can probably transfer my job to the state (I just hope I can get a position somewhere a little more to the north). And it'll be nice to be able to watch the sports teams I actually care about instead of having the Dallas Cowboys and Kansas City Chiefs shoved down my throat.

Trump didn't scare me as much before. From 2017-2021, he was just a big buffoon and he couldn't get anything done right. Now it's changing and he's charging in on a warpath. I hate to admit it, but I liked him more when he was an incompetent idiot vs a bloodthirsty tyrant.
