It's often said that amateurs talk strategy and professionals talk logistics, and a corollary to that is that the man on the street looks at a map without considering things like loss-rates and sustainability. You're being that man on the street, because Kursk is not the vital ground no matter who controls however many square miles. Meat-waves are expensive, not only on the front-lines where units get decimated, but also at home, where families talk to families and the word-of-mouth gets around.
Meanwhile, at Pokrovsk, which is a key Ukrainian logistics hub, the Russians have made no advances in the last three or four months. They're also stalled and grinding gears elsewhere in the face of appalling losses. The best thing to happen for the Russians has been the election of Trump to a second term -- but even that has aroused Europe to further assistance.
